Sweden is a country of outstanding natural beauty and there are many sights and experiences waiting for all kinds of visitors. The country has remained very popular with tourists for many years and the laid back, serene way of life enjoyed by a lot of Swedes provides an intoxicating atmosphere that lures people back again and again. The capital of Stockholm is a popular tourist hotspot for both domestic and international visitors – this is in part thanks to the stunning looks of the city. Often referred to as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Stockholm plays host to countless waterways and parks along with the architectural splendour of the Old Town, which includes such attractions as the Västerlånggatan precinct and the Riddarholm Church. A myriad of other sights and sounds await visitors and weeks can be lost simply taking in all this one city has to offer, and by obtaining a ‘Stockholm Card’, things come a whole lot cheaper. Elsewhere in the country are attractions such as Sweden’s ‘second city’ – Gothenburg – home to a network of waterways, some beautiful Dutch-tinged architecture and one of the best theme parks in Europe at Liseberg. Visitors to the Southwest of the country are welcomed by vast, sandy beaches and lush forests covering substantial amounts of land – provinces such as Halland and Bohusin prove popular with tourists and offer some true natural beauty. The sheer number of both natural and manmade attractions scattered through Sweden is staggering and there is more than enough to keep anyone occupied for a long, long time. Sweden is a calm land of beauty coupled with friendly people. The fact that English is taught in schools as a second language from a young age makes the country all the more accessible for British visitors.
