The currency of Sweden is the Swedish Krona, with one Krona equalling 100 öre. Notes come in denominations of SEK10,000, 1000, 500, 100, 50 and 20, with coins coming in denominations of SEK10, 5 and 1, and 50 öre. FOREX foreign exchange agencies are available across the country in airports ferry terminals and cities. Traveller’s cheques are widely accepted, though to avoid additional conversion charges these should be in US Dollars, Pounds Sterling or Euros. ATMs are widespread through Sweden and the majority of major international credit and debit cards are accepted. General banking hours in most areas are from 0930 to 1500 Mondays to Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 0930 to 1500 or 1730 on Thursdays – larger banks may have different or longer opening hours. The Swedish tend to operate a relaxed and flexible working hours scheme, so usual business hours are different everywhere. Shopping hours are normally 0900 to 1800 Monday to Friday and 0900 to 1600 on Saturdays, with a number of shops opening on Sundays. Formal suits are expected of business meetings along with normal customs and politeness – punctuality is expected. It is customary that a guest should not drink until the host has made a toast. Service charges are added to hotel bills automatically, but restaurants, taxis etc should be tipped around ten percent.
